What is Sensory Integration Disorder?
Sensory integration is using information from all of our sensory systems (sight, smell, touch, taste, auditory, and three extra sense: vestibular, proprioception, and introception) organizing it, and using it to interact with our environment in a purposeful and functional way. Sensory Integration Disorders may result in a variety of adverse behaviors, or maladaptation, such as: extreme avoidance behavior, failure to comprehend environment or environmental action, difficulty attending and difficulty in social settings.
